We are delighted to have completed the installation of a new sprinkler system into this block of 9 apartments in Hackney which involved careful logistical organisation including each tenant moving out for 3 weeks whilst our team created access routes in the MF ceilings, installed all new sprinkler pipework, patched in the ceiling and then decorated before a thorough clean ready for them to move back in.

Vortex were engaged by Anstey Horne to carry out the safe removal and replacement of cladding panels that had asbestos insulation sheets behind. New Hardy cladding was installed with upgraded insulation behind and associated repairs to brickworks and a full clean of the facades of the 2 blocks of apartments.

5 more projects
We have completed 4 projects over the past year for the Diocese of London and 1 for the RC Diocese of Westminster.
These ranged from £20k to £110k in value and encompassed refurbishment works to a residence for the incoming Bishop to new timber windows to a rectory, minor works to 2 further rectories in readiness for a new Reverend and the refurbishment of a nursery school.
5 Star Knightsbridge Hotel
We are delighted to have been involved in the refurbishment of 8 apartments, 7 Deluxe rooms and a very grand staircase for the this 5 star hotel based in Knightsbridge.
Designed by Simeon Thompson at JSJ Design the Deluxe rooms involved bespoke carpets and furniture, luxurious wall coverings and new lighting and artwork.
The fantastic staircase featured a bespoke wall covering that flowed up through the 3 floors to form a forest scene, This was complimented by a bespoke carpet and feature lighting.

We have been engaged to undertake the refurbishment of this private primary school in Blackheath by LXA to make the school more inviting and fun for the pupils including “grassed” areas in classrooms, wall murals and even a hot air ballon basket.

Market Place Bar
A slightly unusual project in that we were introduced to the client on a Friday and started on Saturday with no drawings, only a detailed brief from the two fantastic owners! With lots of on-site discussions, changes, and very long hours we turned around this refurbishment in 2 ½ weeks. The bar has been open and thriving ever since. It is a great venue and well worth a visit, especially as it is 2 doors from our office!
Reformation UK
This was another great project undertaken with LXA. This high-end American brand chose Covent garden as its UK flagship store and we were delighted to be chosen to carry out the works!
The M&E included all new lighting, additional a/c, 2 dumbwaiters from the basement to the ground floor as well as power and data to the touchscreen TVs and iPads. The interior design by Guarnieri Architects featured specialist plaster finishes to the changing rooms and joinery plus a beautiful refurbished timber floor.
Hanson Street
Vortex recently completed this external refurbishment for Adair Surveyors. The works required a full scaffold and entailed the refurbishment and decoration of the shopfront, windows, and roofs to front and rear elevations.

Vortex Jazz Club
Before you ask the name is purely a coincidence and we do not run a Jazz Club!
The project was designed by ‘Unknown Works’ architects. It involved new lighting and decorating the ceilings and walls in black. A purpose-built moveable bar and sound desk were created, along with black rubber flooring to create a great space for jazz practice sessions and gigs.
Cat B fitout
Vortex undertook this fast track Cat B fitout of a 8000 sq foot space in Croydon for our clients new office.
The design included double glazed “Crittal” style partitions, a new teapoint / breakout area, new flooring and M&E alterations and installations.
We also supplied the new furniture in partnership with BT Office Furniture.

Janes Group
Vortex recently completed the Cat B fit-out of Janes Group’s new 10,000 sq foot offices in Croydon. We installed double-glazed crittall style meeting rooms, a large breakout and kitchen area with a feature ceiling, and installed all of the new furniture. Lighting, power, mechanical additions and adjustments completed the 9 week project.
St Mary at Hill
This ground and lower ground floor apartment in the City was one of the may casualties of the severe weather London experienced in late 2021. The property required a full strip-out and refit, apart from the top half of the plasterboard walls and ceilings!

This project for Brown & Lee Surveyors involved the complete strip-out of a bank, including 3 safes in the basement, to prepare for the new tenants.

Hope & Dreams Nursery
Vortex carried out the full refurbishment of this 5 storey double fronted Georgian building that is home to Hopes & Dreams Nursery with LXA. As the nursery was open and operational during the whole of the 14 week programme each floor was completed in turn and then the children moved into the latest completed space. The £360k project included new lighting, a/c, kitchens, flooring, w.c.’s, and decoration throughout as well as an outside soft play area.

Vortex is delighted to have completed a new bar in Ram Quarter in Wandsworth. A complete fit-out within a new development involving polished concrete floor, designer bar, with all services connected to the house system.
