Harvie & Hudson

Harvie & Hudson are a gentlemen’s outfitters established in 1949 and located on the world famous Jermyn Street in London’s West End. Vortex were awarded the project following a competitive tender process. The concept, designed by Otherway brand specialists, was to create an environment that feels and looks like a Georgian drawing room making their customers feel at home and comfortable. To achieve this timber panelling was fitted to the walls whilst a traditional oak floor was laid in a herringbone pattern and bespoke rosewood wardrobes display the clothing. Modern touches such as LED lighting and air conditioning are included so that the new shop is practical and “works” as well as being a beautiful space in which to shop. The project was split into 2 phases, each lasting only 3 weeks, to enable the client to continue to trade. The programme, although incredibly tight, was met on time.”

Viewport Studio

Vortex were commissioned by Viewport Studio to realise their design for a large exhibition to further market Delta Airlines new flight route from the USA to Zurich, Switzerland. The venue was a large open plan room of approx. 4000 sq feet and this was divided into 6 differently themed “Pods” to advertise the various aspects of Delta such as business class, their celebrated food and their in-flight goods. There was a full 360 degree projection around the top half of the perimeter walls as well as colour changing LED lighting to add to the visual impact. The exhibition was transported from the UK in 2 articulated lorries which, due to Zurich’s strict emission laws, had to be parked outside the city limits whilst everything was loaded onto a fleet of vans to be taken to the venue in the centre of the financial district. The whole exhibition had to be fully demountable as it is to be reused for future events. Now back in the UK it has been stored in Vortex’s own extensive on site warehouse.

Foxtons

This combined project for our longterm client Foxtons and their financial arm, Alexander Hall was to create a new workspace within the same establishment that would allow them to be close enough to communicate effectively whilst continuing to operate as separate businesses. To achieve this we installed new glazed partitioning and acoustic walling, ceilings and lay in grid ceilings. The installation of a new mezzanine floor to accommodate new client meeting areas, open plan office space and reception area to the ground floor, as well as a dedicated staff area in the

basement were also created to suit Foxtons’ new office layout. External works included the formation of full height, glass entrance doors and the installation of a glazed shop front. All works were carried out to a very high standard and within very tight timescales to accommodate an immovable office launch date.

Mayfair Chambers

This super high-end apartment in the heart of Mayfair had been completed by the developer but the client wanted to take the finishes of the interior further to personalise his new home.

This involved luxurious wallcovering to every room with panelling detail to the study, replacing the timber floors with carpet to certain areas, new shower fittings and some minor electrical changes.

However the visual largest impact came from the joinery installation which included a new wardrobe to the master bedroom, a bespoke shoe cupboard to the entrance hallway and a full wall audio / visual unit to the living room, the sliding doors to which had a very specialist finish as can be seen from the photographs.
